Every day, more than 100 million tags to photos are added on Facebook. And for relieve this repetition tagging, Facebook finds the facial recognition. This feature will scan every photo added in their site, and will purpose automatically the tags in report with friend’s photo via a facial recognition software.
That process worries a lot of Internet user about the principle of privacy, but will allow every user to be noticed from every photo added with his tag name, and give the choice to delete tag or photo via his friends.
On his blog, Facebook indicates: “When you or a friend upload new photos, we use face recognition software—similar to that found in many photo editing tools—to match your new photos to other photos you’re tagged in. We group similar photos together and, whenever possible, suggest the name of the friend in the photos.”
This option will be enabled by default in each profile subscribed in the social network, and will be able to disable suggested tags in the Privacy Settings
Facebook offers us a very interesting feature allowing to some users to be relieved of the hard task of tagging. Actually this feature is only implemented in the US, but will be soon in the rest of the world!
