  • Where can I find documentation about KeyLemon software?

  • How do I check for KeyLemon updates ?

  • Who is behind KeyLemon?
    The technology is KeyLemon's products was originally developed at the IDIAP institute, Martigny, Switzerland. IDIAP is a world renowned institute specializing in the management of multimedia information and man-machine interactions. The technology is the result of over 10 year's of research.KeyLemon is a private company that span-out from IDIAP and has already seen its products downloaded over 400,000 times.
  • How do I upgrade my license ?
    Please take a look at our illustrated topic in our userguide : How to upgrade my license.
  • Do I need a particular webcam?
    We have successfully tested LemonScreen with most of the recent (<2 years) webcams. If you encounter a compatibility problem with a webcam, please post a message in the forum (found here) with a detailed description of the webcam. We will try to fix the problem as soon as possible and let you know when its done.
  • Which operating system is needed to run KeyLemon ?
    KeyLemon is available for XP/Vista/7 on Windows platform and for Snow Leopard (10.6) on Mac.
  • What about privacy?
    No picture is stored on your harddrive nor transmitted on internet. Only one face model is made and this is locally stored on your computer, not accessible to KeyLemon. This model is based on some statistics of your facial features and is saved in a binary format which cannot be read by third parties.
  • Why does KeyLemon display an error when I am simultaneously using Skype, MSN or any other softwares accessing the webcam?
    A webcam can be accessed by only one process at a time. If you are already using the webcam with Skype for instance, KeyLemon will not be able to access the webcam.

Windows specific

  • The updater does not start automatically once download is completed (version prior to 2.4.1)
    Updater should start automatically once download is completed.

    If not (this could happen in version prior to 2.4.1), you can download it with the link below and start it manually. Please close KeyLemon Control Center and LemonScreen before udpating.

    Updater (to last version KeyLemon 2.4.2)

    Notice that the updater deletes itselft once process is completed or if the user aborts.
    This bug has been corrected in version 2.3.1 and updater should start automatically for futures releases (2.3.1 to 2.x).
  • Why does my AntiVirus or my AntiSpyware find malicious files after KeyLemon's installation?
    KeyLemon's has close interactions with your operating system like getting your username, verifying your Windows password or communicating with the Windows's logon process. Some of KeyLemon's files could be suspicious for your AntiVirus or your AntiSpywares. Before each release, KeyLemon send his installer to the main antivirus companies in order they update their databse. Anyway, if you got some warnings, you can safely ignore for the following files :
    • KLCore.dll
    • KLGina.dll (on Windows XP)
    • KLWindowsCredentialsProvider.dll (on Windows Vista and Seven)

Mac specific

  • Why my Mac looses focus after unlocking screen saver ?
    Windows losing focus in Snow Leopard after unlocking screen saver: This bug has been reported by a lot of people and seems not to be linked to KeyLemon. Because KeyLemon can lock and unlock often your account, this bug has more potential to reproduce. Description of this bug can be found: When this bug appear, the following error is logged in system.log: "ERROR | WSActicateNextApp | CPSBringToFront returned error code -600"

    If this bug occured, a solution consist to lock and unlock (using Exposed and Spaces) your computer again.
  • Does KeyLemon will be in the App Store ?

    We would love to propose KeyLemon software within Mac App Store. Unfortunately, KeyLemon does not fullfill the drastic Mac App Store requirements. These requirements can be seen here for those with an appropriate developer account, here for the others.

    The main reason why KeyLemon cannot take part inside Mac App Store is that KeyLemon installation requires administrator privileges, which is not allowed by Apple. Indeed, because KeyLemon acts very close to the system, administrator rights are required during installation (only during installation) to place files at the right place.

  • How do I uninstall KeyLemon correctly ?

    In order to uninstall KeyLemon properly, you have to use the "Uninstall KeyLemon" button from within KeyLemon application. Simply removing the application (/Applications/KeyLemon.app) will not uninstall KeyLemon correctly. This is clearly explains in the ReadMe step of KeyLemon installation.

    In order to uninstall properly KeyLemon, please follow the following steps:

    • Open KeyLemon application (/Applications/KeyLemon.app). Depending if you are in end of trial or not, KeyLemon should open in the "General" tab or in the "Licenses" tab directly. Both tabs have an "Uninstall KeyLemon" button.
    • Click on the "Uninstall KeyLemon" button. A dialog asks you if you really wants to uninstall KeyLemon. Click on "Yes" (See printscreen "uninstall_2.png"). Then you are asking for an administrator passwords.
    • Finally, KeyLemon tells you that the uninstallation completed correctly and that the Application package (/Applications/KeyLemon.app) will now be removed.

    Yes, but what if I have already removed KeyLemon.app ?

    If you have already removed KeyLemon.app, please install again KeyLemon and follow the steps described above.

  • Does Mac version of KeyLemon support Mac OS X Lion ?

    Yes, KeyLemon is compatible with Mac OS X Lion since version 2.4.4.
