Why 2 factor authentication is a good idea:
No authentication method is fool proof and it is a balance between convenience and security.
Face recognition has drawbacks, different lighting conditions, being fooled by life size portrait picture, etc...
If you set the face recognition too strict it becomes very difficult to authenticate under different lighting conditions.
Suppose you want to use a password but there are times you can't avoid someone looking over your shoulder, such as a good friend, wife, brother, etc...
By combining convenient level face recognition and simple password, you don't have to type a long and complicated password with special characters but you get added security of organic face recognition multiplied with simplicity of a 4 digit password (it's a balance of convenience and security)
