Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

General

Windows specific

  • If you currently have a license for KeyLemon Desktop Application v2.x, you will need to upgrade your key to activate version v3.x.Please visit this page for upgrading your license key..


    Because of an update of the biometric engine between version 2.x and version 3.x, the biometric models are not compatible between the two versions. If you have version 2 installed on your machine, follow the steps below to install and activate KeyLemon v3.

    1. Uninstall version 2.x.
    2. Install version 3.x.
    3. If you have already a license key for v2.x, upgrade your key at the following page.
    4. Activate KeyLemon v3.x using your key.
    5. Create your face and speaker models.


    Please note that we have upgraded customers who purchased a v2.x license less than 30 days before the v3.x release. That is, for all purchases between December the 21st of 2014 and January the 21st of 2015.

  • KeyLemon should support any USB microphone (integrated or external) which is compatible with Windows Media Foundation. If you encounter a compatibility problem with a microphone, please report with a detailed description of the device.

Mac specific

  • Some users reported the KeyLemon logon screen interface does not display after upgrading to 10.9.2. The operating system overwrites the settings for the screensaver configuration during this update. If you face the issue you have two options:

    1. Download this little app. Once downloaded, unzip and run the app. You will need to log out and log in again in order the system reload the settings.
    2. Download full KeyLemon app again from our download page and install it on top of the previous version to restore the configuration.

  • The main reason why KeyLemon cannot take part inside Mac App Store is that KeyLemon installation requires administrator privileges, which is not allowed by Apple. Indeed, because KeyLemon acts very close to the system, administrator rights are required during installation (only during installation) to place files at the right place.

    We would love to host KeyLemon software within the Mac App Store, but KeyLemon does not fullfill the drastic Mac App Store requirements. These requirements can be seen here for those with an appropriate developer account, here for the others.

  • In order to uninstall KeyLemon properly, you have to use the "Uninstall KeyLemon" button from within KeyLemon application. Simply removing the application (/Applications/KeyLemon.app) will not uninstall KeyLemon correctly. This is clearly explains in the Readme step of KeyLemon installation.

    In order to uninstall properly KeyLemon, please follow the following steps:

    • Open KeyLemon application (/Applications/KeyLemon.app). Depending if you are in end of trial or not, KeyLemon should open in the "General" tab or in the "Licenses" tab directly. Both tabs have an "Uninstall KeyLemon" button.
    • Click on the "Uninstall KeyLemon" button. A dialog asks you if you really wants to uninstall KeyLemon. Click on "Yes" (See printscreen "uninstall_2.png"). Then you are asking for an administrator passwords.
    • Finally, KeyLemon tells you that the uninstallation completed correctly and that the Application package (/Applications/KeyLemon.app) will now be removed.

    Yes, but what if I have already removed KeyLemon.app ?

    If you have already removed KeyLemon.app, please install again KeyLemon and follow the steps described above.
